We are seeking an Firmware Verification Engineer to join our Design & Development team at our global headquarters in Sydney. In this position you will be responsible for creating and executing firmware and signal processing verification activities according to protocol, with an emphasis on automation. The role is also responsible for managing overall verification status of firmware produced by the firmware and DSP team that is intended for release.=20 Key Responsibilities * Firmware Verification Activities: Design and implement new firmware and signal processing tests and test scripts, with a focus on automation, working closely with the Firmware and DSP engineers in the team; Convert manual tests and test scripts to automated versions, where possible; Update verification protocols and documents as new tests are designed and implemented; Execute firmware verification according to protocol; Write firmware verification reports * Managing Firmware Verification Activities & Status: Maintain an up to date understanding of upcoming firmware releases and their intended use; Organise and chair Test Risk Management Board (TRMB) meetings as required; Manage and monitor execution of verification activities in the team * Firmware Verification Methodology, Tools and Technology: Champion firmware verification best practice in the team; Aim to improve protocol and report documents and processes; Provide training and reference / guidance material. Key Requirements=20 * University degree in electronics, software or firmware engineering * Experience as a verification engineer in a software or firmware development environment * Strong programming skills in Python * Strong understanding of test automation and automation techniques * Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes * Good written and verbal communication skills * Data analysis and statistics skills * Experience in firmware design and implementation (desirable) * Experience programming firmware using assembler and C, especially for 80C51 or ARM (desirable) * Experience with medical device verification, standards and processes (desirable) * Familiarity with audio/speech signals and equipment; Matlab and Simulink (desirable) Cochlear can offer: * An opportunity to play a key role to deliver on our brand promise of =E2=80=9CHear Now.
