>Description:
When I first started Gnome2, I noticed all of the images were broken and that Sawfish was not functioning. Hence, I killed Sawfish and started Metacity. While playing with the themes of Metacity, I got the following error message:

Window manager warning: Failed to load theme "Crux": Line 33 character 96: Unable to load image-loading module: /usr/X11R6/lib/gtk-2.0/2.0.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-png.so: failed to open libtool archive "/usr/X11R6/lib/gtk-2.0/2.0.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-png.la"

After doing "make deinstall reinstall" for gtk-2.0.3, everything worked fine.
>How-To-Repeat:
cvsup your ports. Build Gnome2 from ports. Start Gnome2.
>Fix:
It's interesting to note that so many of the Gnome2 packages rely on gtk-1.2.10_7. Since doing a second install of gtk-2.0.3 fixes the above error, I imagine there are conflicts between these two versions of gtk.

Thanks for all of your hard work! :)
