Yes, ntp is running on that machine and the clocks are OK! On that machine, gmake does not try and build this target, but 'make' does. Automake supports the BSD and GNU versions of 'make' and this is one of the things I am trying to check. I'm checking now to see if I have a tarball of the code that will duplicate the problem 'outside' of my development environment. H
