(I'm just paraphrasing from the replies to the Japanese mailing list.)

They're still looking for "hard" numbers, but their (consensus) guess
seems to be something like half the PC's sold in Japan in 1995 were
PC98's.

Most of the rest are AT clones, and some Mac's etc.
