I just did a cvsup of RELENG_4 and the buildworld went through just
fine. You might try 

cd /usr/obj
chflags noschg *
rm -rf *

and see if that help. The build uses yacc to generate ldgram.c in
/usr/obj.

You might have also to update to 3.5 before you go to 4.2.
