on my FreeBSD athm.net 4.8-RELEASE FreeBSD 4.8-RELEASE #0: Mon Apr  7 15:19:45 PDT 2003     root@athm.net:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/XXX i386

I just ran /usr/local/bin/cvsup -L 2 -g /usr/local/etc/cvsup/supfile-ports
with 
$cat /usr/local/etc/cvsup/supfile-ports
*default tag=.
*default host=cvsup10.freebsd.org
*default prefix=/usr
*default base=/usr/local/etc/cvsup
*default release=cvs delete use-rel-suffix compress
ports-all


and it complains about the file missing on ftp.freebsd.org:
