I always encourage src and ports developers to spend more time on
documentation, but changes to the front page @ FreeBSD.org should always
be discussed/reviewed/approved by a doc committer. A good place to
discuss these things is on the www@ mailing list.

Alpha have been nuked in HEAD, but we're still supporting it in 6.X, and
we still have some Alpha users around. Besides, we still have a lot of
Alpha-specific information on our website and in our documentation, so
it's not as easy as just removing the word "Alpha" from the front page.
Removing all of this will probably happen (maybe in time for 7.0?), but
now is not the right time, IMHO.

Please back this out.

Thanks,
