You probably used to use the xmcd package which was precompiled with
motif. You have needed motif to run xmcd since FreeBSD 2.1.7.

If you want to build the port from source you will need motif or lesstif.
You must also set HAVE_MOTIF=yes in make.conf or an appropriate place.

Xcdplayer needs to be told to look at the correct CD device. I recall I
had trouble getting mine to compile with my CD player (wcd0c). I did
finally get it to work. Then I tried xmcd.

IMO, Xmcd is much cooler, if only for the automatic fetching of playlists
from the net.
