Here's something strange:

$ perl
print 'hello world';
hello world[njh@pi2b /usr/local/lib/gcc6]$ perl -V
/usr/local/lib/perl5/5.24/mach/CORE/libperl.so.5.24: Undefined symbol "fsta=
t"
[njh@pi2b /usr/local/lib/gcc6]$
