This is undoubtedly a feature that was supported by the old 
ftp.freebsd.org (aka ftp.cdrom.com).

If the current ftp.freebsd.org doesn't support it, I guess we should 
remove this from the handbook, as I was unable to track down an ftp 
mirror that does still support this feature. I'll do a PR.
