Well that took all of 90 seconds...

In rc.d/random we have:

 extra_commands="saveseed"
 saveseed_cmd="${name}_stop"

and in rc.d/postrandom we have:

  postrandom_start()
  {
	/etc/rc.d/random fastsaveseed
  ...

and so it tries to write an entropy file at startup and hangs,
presumably because /dev/random hasn't been sufficiently fed to generate
that much random output?
