Use extended attributes, and let the user layer their own fs ontop of
the system that changes a few of the attributes.


Let me remind people a second...

No matter how much talking goes on, the whole thing is _not_ going to
be done this year.  Whatever John adds will only be a step in some
direction, whether thats resource forks, or quirky directory
structures.
