Try a "df -i" and have a look at %iused. If that looks ok take a note
of the device your root filesystem is on, reboot the machine, at the
"Boot: " prompt type "-s". When it comes up in single user mode do
a "mount -u -o rw /" and a "fsck your_root_device" and then see if
anything appears in lost and found.
