>Description:
I have a Brother HL-2040 printer connected via USB which, after upgrading from cups 1.3.x, no longer prints. Before the upgrade, the foomatic/hl1250 driver on the "no reset" device (/dev/unlpt0) fulfilled all of my requirements, but now even printing a test page results in the queue hanging. Attempting to add a new printer fails to detect any local printers. Others have reported similar problems with alternate USB printers on the FreeBSD forums.

After following a discussion on the ports mailing list, I tried to comment out ulpt support from my kernel configuration and rebuilding with the notion that it was no longer needed by the new USB stack, and somehow conflicted, to no avail. Adding printers still results in nothing found. Selecting LIBUSB support in the port config, as expected, refuses to build the libusb port because it conflicts with the builtin support of stable/release 8. The cups error log reports no errors when trying to add/find new printers. Reverting back to cups 1.3.x results in a working printer and, as of now, seems my only option.
