Ah, but he's not. Didn't have to be. IBM made his product the de facto
standard, and he didn't have to do any marketing at all! Microsoft's
later success at marketing was mostly due to Pam Edstrom, not Gates.

No, Steve Jobs did. But IBM's legacy made Gates the winner.
