No problem here with msdosfs on amd64.

 My system:

 FreeBSD slackbox.xs4all.nl 5.4-STABLE FreeBSD 5.4-STABLE #0:=20
 Wed Aug 10 20:25:45 CEST 2005=20
 rsmith@slackbox.xs4all.nl:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/RFS amd64

I tried a USB keydrive first:

umass0: vendor 0x1005 USB Flash Drive, rev 2.00/1.00, addr 2
 da0 at umass-sim0 bus 0 target 0 lun 0
 da0: <USB Flash Drive 1.12> Removable Direct Access SCSI-0 device=20
 da0: 1.000MB/s transfers
 da0: 61MB (126973 512 byte sectors: 64H 32S/T 61C)

Mounted OK. Deleting and adding files OK. Files checked with md5.

Next I tried a compactflash card, in a SanDisk SDDR-31 reader:

umass0: SanDisk Corporation ImageMate CompactFlash USB, rev 1.10/0.09, addr=
  2
umass0: Get Max Lun not supported (STALLED)
 da0 at umass-sim0 bus 0 target 0 lun 0
 da0: <SanDisk ImageMate II 1.30> Removable Direct Access SCSI-2 device=20
 da0: 1.000MB/s transfers
 da0: 61MB (125441 512 byte sectors: 64H 32S/T 61C)

 I got some errors here:

 (da0:umass-sim0:0:0:0): READ(10). CDB: 28 0 0 1 ea 0 0 0 1 0=20
(da0:umass-sim0:0:0:0): CAM Status: SCSI Status Error
 (da0:umass-sim0:0:0:0): SCSI Status: Check Condition
 (da0:umass-sim0:0:0:0): MEDIUM ERROR asc:0,0
 (da0:umass-sim0:0:0:0): No additional sense information

This error was repeated a couple of times. But I could still mount the
drive. Deleting and adding files OK. Files also checked with md5.

Contact me if you need more info.
