If it always stops at the same place it probably is not a memory error.
If you are using the -j parameter to make buildoworld .. don't. I had this 
same symptom when doing that. Try it and let us know.

On -chat there is a never ending thread on giving Release 5.0 a name, a
la Debian/GNU Linux I suppose. I just thought "Signal 11" might be a
slightly amusing one ...
