Update:

While ubldr does not seem to be able to recognize the mmc devices, it =
does work with usb, so I got as far as loader, but am now stuck with =
with finding, adapting or creating the right .dts file for fdt.
I am a little confused about the kernel sources having dts stuff both in =
/usr/src/sys/gnu/dts/ as well as /usr/src/sys/boot/fdt/dts/. But anyway, =
at least making a little progress...
