There are plenty of free alternatives, depending on her needs, which you've omitted. Firefox, Safari, Opera are all free. OpenOffice should work in Mac OS X. Perhaps you should look at apple.com/downloads/ and see what's in your price range. Does she already have legal copies of Windows software? There are at least two choices of emmulators. Alternately, you may be searching for something like: finkproject.org or darwinports.com
