I'm 100% sure (tested).  I got a Z51 (as opposed to a nearly-identical Z52)
for this exact reason.  Then manual expressly states that it understands
and will emulate an HP 500C automaticaly.  It certainly does for me--but
only connected to /dev/lpt0--I want it working for /dev/ulpt0.  ;)
