5.4-BETA1 with dual Opteron processors and ACPI enabled works for me.  
If you have the option of ACPI 2.0 support, enable that -- often the 
bios defaults to older ACPI version.  If it doesn't work, it is a bug 
either in the bios or freebsd :-)
