I just tried it (I'm running 2.2.7-STABLE, but I wonder if that makes any
difference) and it seems to [still] work here.

But I'll punt.  Is there something funny with your tcl8.0/tk8.0 stuff?  I
have version 8.0.2 of both here.  No competing versions.
