Check the bottom of your /etc/rc.conf file for:

for i in ${rc_conf_files}; do
 if [ -f $i ]; then
 . $i
 fi
done

What is happening is /etc/defaults/rc.conf pulls in /etc/rc.conf, which then
pulls in /etc/rc.conf .... repeat until we run out of file descriptors.

You need to remove the above code from the /etc/rc.conf file.
