The message from me at

    http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=3D167716+0+/usr/local/www/d=
b/text/2001/freebsd-doc/20010527.freebsd-doc

has some suggestions about how we handle non-FreeBSD manpage references
in the documentation.

Comments?

For the specific examples of ports man pages, I think something like:

    &man.ports.net.isc-dhcp3.dhcpd.5;

is going to be necessary. This could then expand to something like:

    <citerefentry>
      <refentrytitle>dhcpd</refentrytitle>
      <manvolnum>5</manvolnum>
    </citerefentry><footnote>
      <para>From <filename class=3D"port">net/isc-dhcp3</filename></para>
    </footnote>
