FreeBSD lifebook 8.2-STABLE FreeBSD 8.2-STABLE #3: Fri Oct 14 16:53:17 MSD 2011     root@lifebook:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/LIFEBOOK  amd64

>Description:
growisofs, which used to work just fine on FreeBSD-7.2, now fails at the very end of the burning process (tested on 8.2-RELEASE as well as the latest STABLE):

# growisofs -dvd-compat -speed=8 -Z /dev/cd1 -r -J -f backups/056
..
2278922 extents written (4451 MB)
builtin_dd: 2278928*2KB out @ average 7.3x1352KBps
/dev/pass1: flushing cache
/dev/pass1: closing track
/dev/pass1: closing disc
:-[ CLOSE DISC failed with SK=5h/EMPTY OR PARTIALLY WRITTEN RESERVED TRACK]: Input/output error

=========
with nothing in the log files.
The drive is a Plextor PX-716A attached via USB, and sysutils/xorriso has no problems with it whatsoever - I can even "repair" those half-baked discs with
`xorriso -outdev /dev/cd1 -close_damaged force -close on', which leads me to think that it is growisofs that needs patching and not the kernel.
>How-To-Repeat:
# growisofs -dvd-compat -speed=8 -Z /dev/cd1 -r -J -f some-directory
