@I agree, the point is that people play with IPv8 and it breaks slip.
@If SLIP is only for IPv4, it should discard other packets...

Yes...and since IPv8 "slips" between the cracks of IPv4 and IPv6...SLIP can
miss the IPv8 packets and crunch the checksum field of IPv8 which is used
to encode the StarGate address(es).
