As other have said, /var/log/messages is a good place to start diagnosing the problem. If you want more detailed help from people on the list it would be useful if you could tell us exactly what doesn't work, and post some more details of your system/network configuration and perhaps your named.conf and zone files. The O'Reilly "DNS and BIND" book (thoe one with the grasshopper on the cover) generally comes highly recommended for anyone running a DNS server.
