Subject: Typo bug in 2.2.6-BETA kernel bootup messages?
Message-ID: <199803122211.OAA18471@mail2.sirius.com>

When booting 2.2.6-BETA on my PII system, the kernel reports "changing
root device to sd0s3a". However, root is really on sd0s2a, and fstab is
so configured. It boots and runs just fine so I suspect the kernel error
message is off by one somehow but it really knows what the real root
device is.

The disk sd0 has only two slices - the 1st is a small DOS (for System
Commander) and the second is FreeBSD (the rest of the 4Gb disk). Slices
3 and 4 are empty/not set. / is sd0s2a, /usr is on sd0s2e, and 128Mb
swap is on sd0s2b. These are the only BSD partitions on the disk.

There is only a single SCSI disk on the system, and FreeBSD is not
configured to see the single IDE drive at all (which has no BSD
partitions anyway).

Latest cvsup update occurred just before 12 Mar 01:38:01 AM PST, and I'm
just now booted and running that update. Appended is the output from
/var/log/messages. Please let me know what additional information is
needed - I'd be happy to provide it.

Thank-you for all your efforts.
