I'm running FreeBSD 12.1 now. Yesterday we reattached the drives to the LSI
controller. Problems showed up during the next backup :-(

We are attaching the drives to the mainboard SATA-ports again. Unfortunately
this is not an option for our other machines. So we have to stick with 11.1.
