what is your video card and what is your X-server (/usr/X11R6/bin/X is
just a symlink to _your_ server) ? Is /usr/X11R6/bin/X a symlink to SVGA
X-server ? I definetly seen some Diamond card with S3 chip. If so, try 
S3 X-server. If your card if an AGP one, you need to choose one of the 
PC98 X-servers.
