>Environment:

Compaq LTE-5250 laptop, running 3.2-R; attempt 4.2-R upgrade

>Description:

	The 4.2 kern.flp and mfsroot.flp floppies report:

	    ata0 at port 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 irq 14 on isa0

By use of FN-Scroll and looking backward, I see the ata0 message,
but then, following the pccard stuff:

ata0-slave: ata_command: timeout waiting for intr
	    ata0-slave: identify failed
	    ata0-master: timeout waiting to give command=ec s=81 e=81
	    ata0-master: identify failed

	fixit.flp is no help.

BTW, an existing 3.2R installation boots fine, recognizes irq 14
apparently, reports wdc0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7 irq 14 on isa.

>How-To-Repeat:

Get a Compaq 5250 (from usedlaptops.com among others) and try.

>Fix:

	Booting up 4.2 from 3.2: 4.2's kernel.GENERIC boots, and
recognizes disk! How is it different from kern.flp?
