I am trying a adaptec 2742T controller and,am getting timeouts on my
disks (sd0 and sd1). My 1742A never gave any trouble.

I am running the 950322-SNAP kernel, probe reports ACB0 with rev < C.

I setup the 2742T, with parity enabled, A and B bus terminated at card
and the other end of the SCSI bus is terminated.

T]---[sd0]-[sd1]---[A-port]
T]---[st0]-[st1]---[B-port] <- internal bus

MS-DOS does not seem to have this trouble.
