I saw that there is Compaq Smart Array support in FreeBSD, and according to the driver author, has been part of the standard distribution since 3.3-RELEASE. Supposedly the PCI version of the driver was considered ALPHA quality as of March 6, 1997. I am wondering if anyone is using this controller in a production environment, and why it is not included in the supported hardware section of the release notes? I am really looking for a testimonial as to the stability of the IDA driver..
