In the "Options" tag for the directory, you leave out the
"Indexes" option...  For example, here is my /home/web/*/www (which allows
the index list) and my /home/web/*/www/cgi-bin which does not.

<Directory "/home/web/*/www">
        Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
        AllowOverride All
        Order allow,deny  
        Allow from all
</Directory>

<Directory "/home/web/*/www/cgi-bin">
        AllowOverride None
        Options None
        Order allow,deny
        Allow from all
</Directory>
