Whoah; them's holy war questions. I have a web page dedicated to this. It's at: http://keystone.westminster.edu/~fullermd/bsdvlin.htm A little out of date right now, but it's getting there. Actually, maybe we should put this URL somewhere on the www.freebsd.org page? In the FAQ/Handbook, maybe...? > What security does freeBSD offer? > What is freeBSD's current version? Look at the web page. There are several brnches, so what 'version', doesn't really mean anything. As far as offical releases, 2.2.5 is due out in a few days. There are also branches with less snaz, but more stability (-STABLE), and bleeding edge branches (3.0-CURRENT). Security, well, that all depends on how you set it up. It can be basically anything from a free-for-all (literally) to a firewall. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* | FreeBSD; the way computers were meant to be | * "The only reason I'm burning my candle at both ends, is * | that I haven't figured out how to light the middle yet."| * fullermd@futuresouth.com :-} MAtthew Fuller * | http://keystone.westminster.edu/~fullermd | *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
