I'd be the first to admit it's far from perfect, *but*, 90% of the problems people have had with it have been solved by tweaking their configuration. Perhaps you could post the contents of your /etc/pccard_ether, /etc/rc.conf and the relevant part of /etc/pccard.conf? What you say about DHCP is true, but it's easier to isolate the problem if we reduce the number of things that aren't working -- clearly DHCP is going to fail if the network card isn't behaving, so let's get rid of it until we know we have a good network link.
