Why is this needed??  sizeof already has a type of "size_t".
This looks like more obfuscation just to quiet Lint.

ISO-C99 says:

6.5.3.4 The _sizeof_ operator

4  The value of the result is implementation-defined, and its type (an
unsigned integer type) is `size_t', defined in `<stddef.h>' (and other
headers).
