 As far as I know the "FreeBSD version number at the footer" is the
 version of the system where the manpages where built and NOT the version
 you searching for.  So even if you are searching for a 9-CURRENT manpage
 it will still say "FreeBSD 7.2".  But the manpage should be the same as
 the one you have on your local system.  See also:

 Could you check if the manualpage is really outdated?  Meaning different
 from the one you have on your local 9-CURRENT system?
 
 Because here (8.1-RELEASE) the content of the manpage is the same as on
 FreeBSD.org.  Only the footer is different (here it says "FreeBSD 8.1"
 as this is the FreeBSD version I am using).
