More than just the annoying "SQE failed" message, my lnc1 Ethernet would
not FUNCTION at all. I dug around in the hackers list for information on
the AMD PCNet/PCI chip driver, and found this:

There is a patch for this that has been committed, so -current and -stable
should have the fix. Per Jordan, I downloaded 2.2.7-19980911-SNAP, and the
Ethernet now WORKS fine - however, I still get THOUSANDS of the annoying
"Heartbeat error -- SQE failed" messages.

Perhaps I should just hack the printf() out of the driver - but it would
be nice if there was a software switch to turn off the SQE "heartbeat"
test... I believe the convention in most shops is to turn this off anyway.

Thanks all!
Regards,
- Mike
