I think it's a good idea to move out most of the examples from the 
actual config files and put them in example files.  I do think, however, 
that the example files should be in /etc/examples, that way you know 
where they are, and that they are connected to the files in /etc. That 
way they will also be covered by mergemaster(8) so you will notice if 
something have changed in the examples and be able to correct your 
config files.

Someone also mentioned moving more files which usually are not changed 
that often to /etc/defaults. I think that might be a good idea, because 
then /etc wouldn't be so clobberd. If you want to change the defaults, 
you just put the changes in a file with the same name in /etc. That's a 
whole different thing though, which need some more thinking-through and 
work...

Anyways, just putting in my 0.02 SEK on things.
