I'm happy to report that this definitely solved the issues I had on my
box for years [1]. It is running faster and more stable than ever,
thanks again Karl!

What is the process with merging the patch in the development kernel,
does this stay "alone" until a kernel/zfs dev decides to pick it up? Or
is there a formal process?
