Can't he use a program like partition magic to format his drive? I have done things like this: 1. Use PM Floppies to reformat/re-lable as a FAT32 drive (this doesn't do a true format but makes the drive readable by a Win98 bootdisk) 2. Use a Win98 bootdisk to go and do a full format. I have had success in using the process going both ways Win <-> FreeBSD as I was having some HD problems earlier this year. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Warren Block" <wblock@wonkity.com> To: "Adam Weinberger" <adam@vectors.cx> Cc: <neodan85@optonline.net>; <freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG> Sent: Friday, July 26, 2002 4:07 AM Subject: Re: Dan wants xp back. > On Thu, 25 Jul 2002, Adam Weinberger wrote: > > > if you've been able to format the disk (did you let XP do it, or did you > > do it with other software?), then the problem is possibly with the disk > > itself. where are you seeing this error? is it spitting it out right > > when the computer boots up, or once the XP installation begins? > > I'm wondering what version of FreeBSD it was.
