Can't he use a program like partition magic to format his drive?
I have done things like this:
1. Use PM Floppies to reformat/re-lable as a FAT32 drive (this doesn't do a
true
format but makes the drive readable by a Win98 bootdisk)
2. Use a Win98 bootdisk to go and do a full format.
I have had success in using the process going both ways Win <-> FreeBSD
as I was having some HD problems earlier this year.
