Edit your syslog.conf :-P
If it's the default syslog.conf of FreeBSD, it will include this:

$ grep dev/console /usr/src/etc/syslog.conf
*.err;kern.debug;auth.notice;mail.crit          /dev/console

You want to remove (or comment) that line.
