AFAIK, the Deskpro works just fine with a recent version of FreeBSD (best if you try the latest 2.2-SNAP) ... Compaq has the configuration accesses to their chip set broken (not compliant to the PCI specs) and that caused lots of trouble ... Let me know if you can't get it to work.
