8)  I've suggested that our fearless SVr4 folks might want to look at 
this, as I'm fairly sure that the package format is relatively standard.

I've also looked briefly at the code; there's quite a bit that will 
need to be rewritten (or possibly just cut out of its functionality), 
but on the whole the code is clean and the job looks quite feasible.
