If you are having a problem with vat , please include the following information: A brief description of the problem: OS version: Sound driver version: Sound card: vat version : is this is a compiled version from sources Where did you get the binary? are you using vat with vmix?: compression algorithm used in vat: kernel config file parameters related to sound card: output of "cat /dev/sndstat": It does help if you can tell us that you can record and playback sound, for instance cat /dev/audio >foo that records au files cat foo >/dev/audio that playbacks au files The above example applies to sound driver version 3.5 and for a gus. It will not work with the old sound driver found in -stable and -current Pending upon your sound card you may have to use /dev/audio0 to record and /dev/audio1 to playback. If you are using sound driver version 3.5 and have a gus card please don't use the socket interface of vat to talk to vmix. Just use straight vat. If you are running the sound driver version 3.5 and have a gus please try ftp://rah.star-gate.com/pub/vat-4.0a2.bin.tar.gz If you have a sound blaster type card, please try: ftp://rah.star-gate.com/pub/vat-and-half.gz vat-and-half is just a straight compilation of vat and works in half-duplex audio -- even if you have a gus! Amancio
