Hmmm.... I re-installed today and it looks like the async I/O on
a socket that I fixed a while back is broken again.  :(

Exactly the same symptoms as before, the dataserver never
receives SIGIO when data is available, but you can make it work
by firing SIGIO signals at the process from outside.
