Looks like it needs to be updated.  Please note that ppbus is 
maintained in 3.0; the code you're looking at is more than 12 months 
old and both totally obsolete and unsupported.

Ideologically, that's correct.  However it will never happen in any 
code targetted for 2.2.x.
