 |It doesn't save the kernel information from the floppy kernel to the
 |hard-disk unfortunately.  Try doing it again with the installed kernel,
 |which is *radically* different (ie; it doesn't have an installation
 |program inside of it).

I did, and it works! The CDROM drive is also seen now where
before it was  hanging up. So I'm now building a new kernel
with audio and X support and hoping for the best.
