org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser is the schema, show-type-column the key.

Backup the existing dconf

cp -ai ~/.config/dconf/user ~/dconf_user.bak

and test if running

gsettings reset-recursively org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser

has got any impact.

I just did the original gsettings reset shema and it worked. Should I still backup dconf?

Hi Brandon,

it's better you reply to the mailing list. I'm a Linux power user, but
a more or less clueless FreeBSD user.

"GTK [...] is a free and open-source cross-platform widget toolkit for
creating graphical user interfaces" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GTK

There might be some important differences between FreeBSD and Linux, so
you better ask the FreeBSD community.

Regards,
Ralf
